Stroke Program

The Department identifies hospitals capable of providing emergent stroke care and directing EMS providers to transport possible acute stroke patients to these hospitals. To obtain IDPH Stroke Center Designation, hospitals should complete the IDPH Application for Stroke Center Designation form and mail it with supporting documentation to the Department.  When funds are available, the Department also distributes grants from the Hospital Stroke Care Funds though EGrAMS.  The Department also participates in the State Stroke Advisory Subcommittee of the State EMS State Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.
