National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is May 19-25, 2024

Wednesday, May 22, 2024 is Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day

This is the 50th anniversary and the theme is Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future

EMS Week Certificates

Certificates for years of service in EMS will be available for printing. The certificates will be emailed back to the requester in PDF form. It is the responsibility of the requester to print the certificate, preferably on card stock or certificate paper, and present them to the recipients. As in the past, the request must be in five-year increments only – five, 10, 15, 20, 25 years, etc. All levels of pre-hospital personnel are eligible for certificates – Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic, First Responder, First Responder Defibrillator, Lead Instructor, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse and Trauma Nurse Specialist. The deadline for submission of names to the Department is May 13, 2024. Use the form 2024 EMS Week Years of Service Certificate Request Form for submission of certificate recipients. Prior to submission of the form, ensure that all names are spelled correctly and that the correct level and the number of years of service are indicated for each entry. Pay close attention to the attached instructions when filling out the form. All information must be present at the bottom of the form – submitted by, system number, telephone number and email address.

Forms will only be accepted in electronic Word format on the prescribed form (no PDFs). No other means of submission will be accepted. Email completed forms to dph.emsweek@illinois.gov.

EMS Week Awards

Awards for EMS Instructor/Pediatric Instructor, Public Education/Pediatric Public Education, EMS Response/EMS Pediatric Response and Emergency Response by a Layperson/ Pediatric Emergency Response by a Layperson will also be given again this year. If you would like to nominate someone for one of the categories, use the form EMS Week Award Application for submission. The deadline for submission to the Department is Monday April 26, 2024.
