Illinois Oral Health State Plan V (2026-2030)

The Illinois Department of Public Health Oral Health Section is proud to unveil the fifth iteration of the Illinois Oral Health State Plan (IOHP); a bold, evidence-driven blueprint charting the path toward improved oral and overall health for all Illinoisans. This release represents not just strategic planning, but an extraordinary labor of love: thousands of hours of dedication, collaboration, and community engagement.

Built by Communities, for Communities

Over 300 individuals across the state (from rural clinics to urban health systems, from grassroots advocates to seasoned policymakers) generously offered their insights to shape this plan. Their voices, experiences, and expertise are woven throughout the framework, making the Illinois Oral Health Plan V a truly collective vision.

A Prioritized Roadmap

The IOHP isn’t just a document—it’s an actionable roadmap designed to align oral health with overall health. It guides stakeholders at every level (policy influencers, funders, educators, healthcare professionals, and advocates) toward sustainable progress. Achieving optimal oral health requires collaboration between the public and private sectors at national, state, and community levels, and this plan is designed to foster exactly that.

What’s Inside

With Gratitude

This ambitious and impactful plan could not have been realized without the tireless efforts of those who contributed to its design, planning, and implementation. Special thanks go to the Illinois Oral Health Coalition whose leadership, passion, and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the future of oral health in our state.

Here's to healthier smiles and healthier lives together.
