Illinois NEMSIS 2.2.1 Specifications

The following files contain information needed by software vendors to produce a NEMSIS 2.2.1-compliant electronic data export to the state of Illinois:

  • A list of the elements being collected by the state
  • Illinois Medication codes used for NEMSIS Version
  • Data consistency rules that will be enforced
  • NOTE: For Agency Codes, Destination Codes, and EMS System Numbers refer to our NEMSIS Version 3 information

As updates become available they will be posted here - along with summaries of the changes. These summaries will be left in place to give a complete record of revisions.

      • Corrected typo in 'E04_01' (previously was incorrectly 'EO4_01' (alpha 'O' instead of zero))
      • Changed 'Complaint' to 'Chief Complaint' for elements E09_11 (Chief Complaint Anatomic Location) and E09_12 (Chief Complaint Organ System)

      • The rules for when TypeOfDestination (E20_17) must be specified have been relaxed so that a Destination Type is no longer required when Incident/Patient Disposition (E20_10) is 'Treated, Transferred Care' (4845).

      • DestinationTransferredToCode (E20_02) is required to contain a non-Null value when Incident/Patient Disposition (E20_10) is 'Treated, Transported by EMS' AND Destination Type (E20_17) is 'Hospital'. For all other Dispositions, or if Destination Type is not 'Hospital', DestinationTransferredToCode now must contain a Null value
