Public Health Infrastructure Grant
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in collaboration with academic partners, is offering a suite of workforce development programs tailored to support public health professionals at various stages of their careers.
Offered by IDPH, UIC, and the University of Wisconsin, the N2PH Residency Program is a year-long learning experience for public health staff with 6–12 months of experience. It includes self-paced modules, monthly virtual discussions, and mentorship to build foundational knowledge and confidence. Participants commit ~10 hours/month and must have supervisory approval to enroll. Orientation begins each fall.
PHLISC is a leadership development program for mid-to-senior-level professionals with at least two years of experience. Fellows explore systems thinking and leadership strategies through peer coaching, action planning, and policy-focused sessions. Graduates who complete 80% of the program earn a certificate and join a growing network of alumni and public health leaders.
This training series seeks to strengthen leadership and management skills for current supervisors at IDPH and local health departments. Weekly sessions cover delegation, conflict resolution, team dynamics, and trust-building. Participants are selected through an application process and the series is offered on a rolling basis.
