Universal Newborn Screening Advisory Committee
The Illinois Universal Newborn Screening Advisory Committee (formerly the Genetic and Metabolic Diseases Advisory Committee) was established by the Genetic and Metabolic Diseases Advisory Committee Act (410 ILCS 265/1) to advise the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) about issues relevant to the Universal Newborn Screening and Clinical Genetics programs. Emphasis is placed on those conditions which can be detected by newborn screening, are amenable to treatment, and for which genetic counseling may be helpful.
