Public Health Officials Announce 7,598 New Cases of Coronavirus Disease

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 7,598 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 76 additional deaths.

  • Hancock County: 1 female 80s
  • Henderson County: 1 female 90s
  • Jersey County: 1 female 60s

  • Kane County: 1 male 60s, 3 males 70s, 1 female 80s
  • Kendall County: 1 male 70s
  • Knox County: 1 female 60s, 1 male 70s

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 787,573 cases, including 13,255 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.  Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 79,538 specimens for a total 11,101,214.  As of last night, 5,160 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 1,103 patients were in the ICU and 643 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators. 

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from November 29 – December 5, 2020 is 10.1%.  The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from November 29 – December 5, 2020 is 11.8%.
