Campaign to Fight Zika
This Summer, We're Fighting Zika With the Power of Prevention
Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)'s new awareness campaign shares Zika resources with Illinois residents.
Zika is a virus spread primarily by the bite of an infected mosquito. It can be passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus, and infection during pregnancy can cause birth defects. There is no vaccine or treatment, and many details about the virus remain unknown.
Right now, outbreaks are occurring in many countries and territories around the world. At the Illinois Department of Public Health, we’re committed to ensuring that our state’s residents know how to protect themselves from the virus during the summertime travel season.
As part of that commitment, we recently launched an awareness campaign, to help Illinoisans navigate the higher risk of Zika that accompanies destination wedding season and summer vacations through important updates, information, and tools.
