Head, Spinal Cord and Violent Injury (HSVI) Inclusion Criteria

An HSVI patient is defined as a patient sustaining an injury within 14 days of initial hospital encounter and meeting the following criteria:

Head and Spinal Cord 550

  • Inclusion is determined by a qualifying Diagnosis Code and the ED Disposition
  • Diagnosed with an injury listed in the Inclusion Injury Diagnosis Code
  • Admitted to your hospital (inpatient or 23 hr status) OR arrives at the emergency department and dies before admission to the hospital OR Transferred to another acute care hospital for definitive treatment of the head or spinal cord injury

The HSVI Registry is an injury registry. Patients admitted, die prior to admission, or transferred must have at least one injury diagnosis. Preferably it should be the primary admitting or transfer diagnosis. Cases without injuries or only superficial injures are excluded even if they meet the other inclusion criteria.

Violent Injury 560

  • Inclusion is determined by a qualifying Injury Code and the ED Disposition
  • Sustained an injury (excluding superficial injuries) as the result of the listed Inclusion External Cause of Injury Code
  • Admitted to your hospital (inpatient or 23 hr status) OR arrives at the emergency department and dies before admission to the hospital OR Transferred to another acute care hospital for definitive treatment of the violent injury
