Recommended Guidance for Preventing Spread of COVID-19 in Adult Day Programs
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is committed to protecting the health of the citizens of Illinois. Early information on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) suggests older adults and people with chronic or underlying health conditions have a heightened risk of getting seriously ill if they become infected. An important step to preventing the spread of COVID-19 is to eliminate congregations of large groups. For this reason, and considering current state actions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, IDPH is recommending the closure of Adult Day Programs.
IDPH is making this recommendation to protect the well-being and health of everyone, albeit while recognizing this guidance will raise concerns about service delivery. This is an evolving situation and you are encouraged to monitor the IDPH and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) websites for the most up-to-date information and guidance.
