    Waukegan services will relocate to accommodate IEPA Emission Testing

    SPRINGFIELD – Ten of the eleven state-managed Community Based Testing Sites will resume normal operations on Wednesday, June 3. This includes Harwood Heights, Aurora, Rockford, East St. Louis, Bloomington, South Holland, Auburn/Gresham/Chatham, Champaign, Rolling Meadows and Peoria.

    The Waukegan site will reopen on Thursday, June 4 in a new location to accommodate the restoration of vehicle emission testing at the IEPA-managed facility on Northwestern Avenue. The new location of the Waukegan Community Based Testing Site is 102 W. Water Street.

    All individuals with symptoms are encouraged to seek testing at these Community Based Testing Sites. Additional accommodations have been made for the following individuals with or without COVID-like symptoms.

    Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 121,234 cases, including 5,412 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 20,014 specimens for a total of 918,273. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from May 25–May 31 is 6%.

    Amaal V.E. Tokars, EdD. joins IDPH

    SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is announcing today its new Assistant Director, Amaal V.E. Tokars, EdD.  Most recently, Tokars was the Kendall County Health Department Executive Director since 2005 where she oversaw daily operations for the health department.  She is a Certified Public Health Administrator with expertise in adult education and experience in community engagement, culturally competent service design, planning, performance management, social change, and human services.  In her new role, Tokars will represent IDPH with external partners and serve as the primary liaison with its 97 certified local health departments.
